PolyPlace
PolyPlace is a mobile app we developed to revolutionize how Cal Poly SLO students find housing, roommates, and subleases. This collaborative project tackled the inefficiencies and safety challenges of existing platforms, using Lean Six Sigma's DMAIC methodology to create a user-focused solution. PolyPlace prioritizes compatibility, security, and convenience, offering a modern, reliable alternative for the student community.
Role: Prototype Designer, Researcher
Problem Statement
Cal Poly students lack a centralized platform for finding housing, roommates, or subleases. Existing options like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are scattered, unreliable, and insecure, making them unsuitable for the unique needs of the student community.
Design Sprint
Our team conducted a design sprint to refine the PolyPlace app. Using tools like "How Might We" statements and Fishbone diagrams, we identified key issues and brainstormed solutions. Prototyping and user feedback helped shape a functional, student-focused interface.

User Survey
We conducted two surveys (about 15 questions each), gathering 30 responses from Cal Poly students. These surveys provided valuable insights into user needs, pain points, and preferences, which guided our design and development decisions.
